Chelsea FC have endured a tough past months after having long-term owner Roman Abramovich forcefully put the club up for sale. 46year old American businessman Tod Boehly purchased the club towards the end of the season and fans are glad to see the club finally making moves in the transfer market under a new leadership.
Despite going over a month with no signing since the start of the transfer window, Chelsea have added two stellar signings in Raheem Sterling from rivals Manchester City and Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli. The addition of these two versatile and experience players have Chelsea supporters hoping this would be an opener for even better incomings this summer.
Chelsea lost two key defensive figures ( Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen) for free at the end of the season and Tuchel has emphasised the importance of adding even more quality players to Chelsea’s backline. The Blues could be set to lose more defensive players as reports suggest that captain Caesar Azpilicueta and Spanish compatriot Marcos Alonso could leave the club amidst interest from Spanish giants FC Barcelona this summer.
The Blues recently failed to agree terms with Manchester City in a deal to bring ex-player Nathan Akè back to the club despite agreeing terms with the player. However, Chelsea have now set their sights on Presnel Kimpembe of Paris St Germain. With the French club deeming the 26year old surplus to requirements, he could be on his way to re-join former boss Thomas Tuchel in London this summer.
Sevilla‘s Joule Kounde is another centre-back that Chelsea have shown interest in and could bring in this summer. Sevilla are reluctant to sell Kounde this summer but could let the French defender leave if they are offered the right amount.
Chelsea are currently on their pre-season tour in the US and will look to start the season as strong as they can.
