In a video circulating on social media yesterday, the convoy of the Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola was seen to be attacked by hoodlums who were running with sticks and cursing out loud at the convoy as they drove hurriedly past the crowd.
However, the Chief Press Secretary to Oyetola, Ismail Omipidan, informed the public that the video in circulation was of an incident during during the nationwide #EndSARS protest that took place in 2020 not of the Eid Mubarak celebration.
He stated that the video was a scheme that indicated the fear of the opposing party, People’s Democratic Party (PDP), of the imminent defeat on the July 16th Governorship election. Omipidan stood firmly that the Governor of Osun State, Adegboyega Oyetola, was not attacked on Eid praying ground.
The statement reads; “The video is being circulated by unscrupulous agents of the sinking PDP in Osun, in further demonstration of their political desperation. The PDP should know that there’s no amount of lies and propaganda that can make its candidate win the forthcoming governorship election. “
“For the avoidance of doubt, the said video in circulation is that of an incident during the 2020 nationwide #EndSARS protest. There was no attack on Governor Oyetola’s convoy or on any individual before, during and after the Eid prayers on the Osogbo praying ground.”
