In what is coming as a sad development, Yet to be identified gunmen have burnt down a petrol station and killed the security guard in the Akure North Local Government Area of Osun State on Monday.
The residents were all thrown into a state of fear and terror as the gunmen unleashed terror on the community.
The unknown assailant set the station ablaze shot and killed the security guard who was manning the Titolu Venture filling station in the community.
The manager of the station, Ajisafe Oluwatobiloba, said while attempting to determine what started the fire, they came upon the body of the security guard.
He said, “In the morning, I was called by one of the residents, and on getting here, we saw the station burning, we called the fire service and they came to stop the fire not knowing the perpetrators had killed our security guard.
“While trying to figure out what could have caused the fire, we saw where the guard was tied and killed. We also saw the keg used by the arsonist filled with petrol which must have been used to wet the station before setting it on fire.”
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, PPRO, SP Funmi Odunlami also confirmed the incident and said investigations had begun to unravel the circumstances behind the incident.
