The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and sitting govenor, Seyi Makinde, has won the gubernatorial election in Oyo state.
Makinde defeated his challengers including Labour Party (LP)’s Akinwale Tayo as well as a serving senator, Teslim Folarin of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was successfully re-elected in the election which took place on Saturday.
Makinde defeated Teslim Folarin of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Adebayo Adelabu of the Accord Party to win the election.
The state Resident Electoral Commission, Tella Adeniran, has pleaded for a 30-minute break for proper declaration of the winner of the election.
Makinde, who was seeking re-election, on Saturday, contested against a three-term Senator, Teslim Folarin of All Progressives Congress and Adebayo Adelabu of Accord Party, who was former deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The announcement of the results was monitored by the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Tella Adeniran alongside the state returning officer, a professor from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Olusola Kehinde, and heads of security apparatus in the state.
