Grammy Award-Winning singer, Wizkid has hit a new milestone as his last album, Made In Lagos has now received RIAA Album Certification.
On Monday (August 29), Chart Data reported officially on Twitter that Nigerian Grammy award-winning singer Wizkid’s fourth album, titled ‘Made In Lagos’, had been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
The singer became the first African singer to earn an RIAA album certification. In other words, ‘Made In Lagos’ has become the first album in the history of African music to be certified RIAA gold.
According to the RIAA, what it takes an album to be certified gold is that the artist must have sold 500,000 units, and 1 million to go platinum.
Wizkid’s ‘Made In Lagos’, which was released in October 2020, reached the benchmark for a gold album, having sold over 500,000 units as required.
Wizkid is officially the first and currently the only African singer with RIAA gold album.
