Popular media personality and critic, Solomon Buchi, took to his verified Twitter page and called Don Jazzy out for remaining silent about Nigeria’s 2023 election.
While some celebrities like Falz, Mr Macaroni, and PSquare have been vocal about the ongoing Nigeria’s presidential election, some have been neutral and remained silent on their social media handles, of which Don Jazzy falls under.
Buchi believes that, as a prominent figure, Don Jazzy as a vital role to play in this election. He criticized him for being swift to promote young girls displaying their bodies on Instagram but not using the same platform to ‘ginger the youth’ during this time.
He wrote, ‘I like Don Jazzy’s personality and what he’s done in the Nigerian secular music space. However, how are you so swift to promote young girls on IG displaying their bodies, always shaking bum and boobs. But not same energy towards the elections.
I’m not saying you must support PO, but at least ginger the youths, the same way you promote young girls that have lost shame on Instagram. It’s exasperating to see us major on minors and minor on majors.
I am saying, sensitize young people to take political involvement as much as they do with doing rubbish on Tiktok. As a social critic, I see how important it is for culture shapers/influencers to encourage the masses. It boosts morale. Influence should not be wasted’.
