Nigerian singer, May D has claimed to be the one to bring the popular Amapiano sound to Nigeria.
This comes after award wining Nigerian singer, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun professionally known as Wizkid released an Amapiano’s song today, September 14th, 2022 titled “Bad To Me.”
However, the song has generated mixed reactions as some people opined that Davido brought Amapiano from South Africa to Nigeria 2 years ago with hit songs that include, Focalistic, Champion Sound, Electricity among others.
A Twitter user, @LadyRoza_001 tweeted; “Davido brought Amapiano from South Africa two years ago and made it a successful genre in Africa and Beyond, Wizkid is now hopping on the same genre after davido made it a successful genre. This is how many African artists have been benefiting from Davido’s success for over 12yrs.”
Responding, popular South African Disc Jockey, DJ Maphorisa who is well known for his Amapiano sounds as he has work with Davido, Wizkid, Burnaboy and others debunks the above tweet as he gives the credits to Wizkid and Burnaboy.
DJ Maphorisa tweeted; “Kabza & Maphorisa was the first to put Wizkid n Burnaboy on a amapiano song Sponono dat was a historical moment 3 years ago, research before tweet also it was the first time Wiz n Burna jumped on a same song together let it sink in 🦅❤️.”

Responding, Davido shaded DJ Maphorisa as he noted that he never liked him.
Davido tweeted; “You’ve never liked me y ? I’ve always been good to you …. Anyways ! AWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY NOW!!!!!! Chu chu chu chu chu.”
