Popular Nigerian comedian and skitmaker, Abdulgafar Ahmad, popularly known as Cute Abiola on Friday announced his resignation from the Nigerian Navy.
The announcement is coming a few hours after Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, appointed him as his Special Assistant on Creative Industries.
The Skitmaker said he resigned from the Navy to afford him “enough time to passionately pursue my dreams.”
His exit came about a year after the Nigerian Navy arrested and detained him for about a month on the grounds that he violated the Armed Forces Social Media Policy.
Cute Abiola was arrested several times supposedly for creating skits while wearing the official camouflage of the Nigerian military.
In a Facebook post on Friday, he thanked the Chief of Naval Staff for approving his resignation: “With profound gratitude, I deeply appreciate the Nigerian Navy for giving me the uncommon opportunity to imbibe discipline through a regimented procedure in the areas of career development, moral values, work ethics, to mention but a few. I can dauntlessly say (sic) that, I have the required intelligence and human development finesse to continue to live a prosperous life.
“I urge all my fans to join me in appreciating the Chief of Naval Staff and all my senior colleagues for contributing immensely to my career development, while I used their pedestal to realize my duty of protecting and defending our dear Country. Sincerely, Nigerian Navy has become my roadmap to a sustainable career path.
